The Kindergarten – Third Grade program features a strong phonics-based reading curriculum, a math curriculum geared to build students’ number sense, and uses manipulatives to enhance learning. We are data-driven through assessments of the children’s knowledge on the content being taught, and we keep a binder on each of the students to track their progress. We also have a fall and spring conference with parents and provide report cards.

K-12 Tutoring Services

Welcome to A Village’s K-12 Tutoring Services. We understand the importance of identifying each student’s unique needs to help them achieve their full potential. That’s why we start all K-3 students off with an initial assessment, gathering data on their phonological awareness, reading skills, sight words, and phonics proficiency, among others. For grades 4-12, the initial assessment is based on the parents and/or teachers data and observations.

Upon completing the assessment, we review the results with parents and provide a professional recommendation for the number of sessions the student should have per week. Next, a personalized program is created by a licensed teacher – to target specific areas of improvement for the student.

We provide homework support to our enrolled students on an as-needed basis, particularly for areas in which they may be struggling as we work to improve their skills.

Don’t let academic struggles hold your student back. Let A Village’s K-12 Tutoring Services help them succeed.

Summer Camp

As the school year winds down and the anticipation of summer break grows, there’s an underlying concern that creeps into the minds of parents and educators alike—the dreaded ‘summer slide.’ This term refers to the academic regression that many children experience during the summer months, a phenomenon that can significantly impact a student’s readiness for the upcoming school year and slow down classroom progress. But fear not, because the AVLC Review Summer Camp is here to turn the tide against this seasonal setback.

Understanding the Summer Slide
The summer slide isn’t just a myth; it’s a well-documented issue that affects learners across the globe. Studies show that students can lose at least 34% academic progress during the summer, with subjects like math and reading taking the hardest hit. This loss not only puts a damper on the hard work students have put in throughout the year but also means the first few months back at school are spent playing catch-up rather than diving into new and exciting material.
